Larry D. Chartier

Larry D. Chartier, age 77, entered into rest on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Salina Regional Medical Center, Salina, Kansas.  He was born on November 26, 1943 in Concordia, Kansas to Archie and Verda (Kelly) Chartier.

Larry was a 1961 graduate of Clyde High School, Clyde, Kansas. His love of farming became his life work as a farmer stockman.  He was joined in marriage to Carol Nutter Combs on September 21, 1973 and they farmed together until his passing.

One of the greatest joys in Larry’s life was his sons and later each of his grandchildren and was always up for a game of pitch when the family got together for holidays. Larry always looked forward to watching NASCAR races and following the news on the drivers.  He also enjoyed gardening, especially for his tomatoes.  It was a common scene to see Larry along the road visiting with his fellow farm neighbors.  He had a good and happy spirit and was welcomed by all.

Larry will be missed by his Wife – Carol of Concordia, Kansas; One Step-son David Combs of Manhattan, Kansas; Two Sons – Ronnie (Laura) Chartier of Hays, Kansas; John (Amy) Chartier of Fort Fairfield, Maine.  Two Brothers – Wilbur (Linda) Chartier of Ames, Kansas; Dennis (Rhonda) Chartier of Abilene.   Grandchildren – Elsie, Jaxson, Damian, and Boedy of Hays, Kansas; Hannah, Benjamin, Samuel, Micah of Fort Farifield, Maine.  One step-grandson Zachary (Sara) Doyle and great-grandson Brogan of Manhattan, Kansas.

Cremation has taken place and a gathering will be held at a later time.  Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Republic County.

Memorials are suggested to the Larry D. Chartier Memorial to be determined later and can be sent in care of the family or the funeral home.
