Dallas Nading Obituary

Dallas E. Nading, 86, formerly of Concordia, passed away at 12:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, at Meadowlark Hills, Manhattan, KS.

Dallas was born on May 11, 1936 to John Leander “Lee” and Viola May “Dodie” Hall Nading in Oswego, KS. In 1954, he graduated from Labette County Community High School. He married Nancy Jo Reitz, on Sept. 5, 1954 at the Methodist Church in Bartlett, KS. They moved to Concordia and built a wonderful life together for 67 years prior to her death in 2021.

He worked as a printer for Ralph Davies at the Kansan Newspaper office which he and his colleague Fred DeArmond purchased in 1965 after Davies’s passing. After DeArmond retired in 1983, Dallas and Nancy assumed ownership until 1988.

After closing the Kansan, Dallas worked at the Credit Bureau, then went to KNCK in February 1994 as a sales representative.

Dallas was a member of the Lions Club for 65 years and held all the local offices. He was Deputy District Governor of Kansas, served on the Chamber of Commerce and on the Hospital Board of Directors.

Dallas will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his children, Brad Nading, Jennifer (Steven) Rodvelt; grandchildren, Tyler and Grant Rodvelt, Scott (Taylor) Nading, Kayla Nading; great-grandchildren, Owen and Cashton Nading.

Dallas has two brothers and one sister, John Nading and wife, Carolyn, of Mound Ridge, KS; Francis Nading, Oswego, KS and Gail Lee and husband, Albert, of Checotah, OK.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; his parents; three brothers, Jim Nading, Bob Nading, and Alfred Nading; and one sister, Juanita Carnahan.

Dallas’s contagious laugh, unshakeable faith in God, love for his family and his servant’s heart will be a lasting legacy.
