Lorraine Bramwell, a lifelong resident of Concordia, Kansas, passed away in the early morning hours of April 1, 2026, surrounded by her daughters, Rebecca, Jody, and Rosa. She was ninety-seven years old.
Born in Clay Center Kansas on July third, 1928, to Mabel Murphy and Joseph Yeager, Lorraine grew up on a small farm outside of Green, Kansas and was the youngest of eight children. Her parents and siblings, Leota Lamire, Onita Ott, Josephine Holmes, Geneva Dennis, Alberta Avery Smith, Betty Lou Schwartz, and Jack Yeager are all deceased.
Shortly after graduating from Clay Center High School, Lorraine secured a job with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and moved to Concordia, Kansas, where she worked as a telephone operator until the Concordia office closed and she retired.
In February of 1952, Lorraine married Raymond C. Bramwell and four children were born into this marriage: Rebecca Ann, Dana Ray, Jon Kevin, and Jody Lou. Lorraine was a dedicated homemaker, gardener, a talented crafter who mastered the antique art of tatting, and a wonderful cook who will be remembered for the incredible holiday banquets she lovingly prepared, and all while managing to raise four children and meet the demands of her full-time job with the telephone company.
Lorraine loved packing the ice chest and spending summer weekends at Milford Lake, sailing with Ray and the children. She loved taking family vacations and many memorable trips to the mountains, desert, pacific ocean, gulf coast, Canada and Mexico were enjoyed by all. As the family got older, Lorraine and Ray became dedicated fans of their children’s academic, artistic and athletic endeavors, never missing a game or failing to travel to distant locations when one of their children was engaged in any sort of competition. As the family got older and began to establish their own lives, Lorraine and Ray continued to enjoy traveling together and went on multiple cruises and trips back to Acapulco, Mexico, the place where they honeymooned so many years before.
As one of the greatest joys of her life, Lorraine cherished the times spent with her beloved grandchildren and looked forward to their calls and especially news of upcoming visits. In anticipation, she always prepared her most popular dishes and could be spotted standing in the doorway or garage, awaiting their arrival. Her arms were always open and her joy in spending time with them was enormous. She will be deeply missed.
Lorraine is survived by her daughter Rebecca Ann Bramwell and husband, Dr. John P. Bray of Rockland, Maine, daughter Jody Lou Isaacs and husband, James Isaacs of Lincoln, Nebraska, and daughter-in-law Rosario Bramwell (wife of Dana Bramwell), of Dodge City Kansas. She has nine grandchildren, Jennifer Herbin Vickroy and husband Warren, Heather Ann Orenstein and husband Jeffrey, Erica Herbin Frazier and husband Erik, Michael John Herbin and wife Jennifer, Marylin Hinojosa and husband Jason, Mildred Hinojosa and husband Zerek, RaeAnn Mayer and husband Ben, Oliviah Eberspacker and husband Tyler, Halston Hartley, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, her husband of fifty years, Raymond Creth Bramwell, her two sons, Dana Ray Bramwell and Jon Kevin Bramwell, and Jon’s wife, Jean Bramwell.
A life celebration will be scheduled for a later date followed by internment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Concordia, Kansas.
