Virginia Eileen Reed, daughter of Lloyd H. Reed and Bernice Russell Reed was born February 13, 1920, at a farm home near Webber, KS. She passed away October 24, 2025 at Sunset Home, Concordia, KS at the age of 105. She attended elementary school at the one room Rosehill School. She graduated from Webber High School with the class of 1938. She graduated from the Hutchinson School of Business in 1939.

On September 7 1941 she was united in marriage to Wayne R. Wilson. Soon after marrying, Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Navy. They were assigned to Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fl. After WWII they moved to Newton, KS for a short time. They then moved to Mankato, KS where they raised their three children. Eileen worked for the Darrell Miller law firm in Mankato. She was elected as Jewell County Clerk and held several county positions including Sheriff.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne, their daughter Linda Matheny, granddaughter Amanda Wilson, and brothers Russell and Darrell Reed. Eileen is survived by daughter Sandra and husband Steve Britt of Carrabelle, FL, son Edwin Wilson of Concordia, KS, Granddaughter Allison Gonzalez, Grandson Ethan Wilson of Concordia, Great granddaughter Brooklynn Velez and Grandson Zachery Campbell. She is also survived by Sister Joan D. Ross of Omaha, NE and brother-in-law the Rev. Don Wilson. She will be missed by a plethora of nieces, nephews, numerous relatives and friends.

Eileen’s earliest memories were attending church at Ruban’s one room schoolhouse joined by neighbors and family. The services and hymns shared there gave her considerable comfort and joy throughout her life. Eileen was active in the Mankato United Methodist Church where she participated in church functions. She was also active in community affairs; she helped to deliver Meals for the Aged well into her 90’s. Eileen was a member of the Superior Women’s Auxiliary; she and Wayne were also active in the Webber Methodist Church. Eileen and Wayne were very instrumental in the annual Memorial Day Ceremonies at the Webber cemetery. Her passionate work at the Jewell County Senior Center earned her Volunteer of the Year for Jewell County.

Visitation will be Friday October 31, 2025 from 9:00am – 10:00am at Nutter Mortuary, Concordia, KS.

Funeral Services will be Friday October 31, 2025 at 10:00am at Nutter Mortuary with Pastor Al Paredes officiating.

The casket will remain closed.

The Burial will follow the service at Webber Cemetery, Webber, KS.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials are suggested to the Pawnee Indian Museum State Historic Site, Republic, KS.
