Daniel Leighton Wheatley

Daniel Leighton Wheatley was born August 16, 1961 in Tacoma Washington. He met the love of his life, LeRoy Dickinson, in Hawaii on February 22, 1989. Dan was a tourist bus driver on Oahu. He loved it because he got to meet so many people from around the world. After a couple years on Oahu, life moved them to San Diego, but the waters and white sand beaches of Oahu kept calling them back and in 1993, they bought a small bar in Kailu-Kona and a beach house on Ili’Ili Beach thinking that would be their forever home. Over the years the bar was expanded into a dance club, where Dan loved to DJ at on weekends and for private events. Fast forward another 23 years and in 2006, they moved to Concordia, Kansas to help care for LeRoy’s parents, and came to call Brownstone Hall their home. Dan loved to decorate for his favorite holidays, Halloween & Christmas. People would come each year to visit the spooky haunted house on the hill, and see what new and beautiful Christmas decorations were added. His desire to keep things forever dazzling quite apparent. Dan was preceded in death by his half-sister Danette Bequette Ross and is survived by his life partner LeRoy Dickinson, his mother Rose Kimball, sister Shari Setzer, half-sister Lori Buller, half-brothers Andrew Wheatley, Kevin Wheatley and Brandon Bequette. Dan and LeRoy lived a full life together for over 36 years. Dan passed September 4, 2025 in the comfort and love of his home in Concordia, KS.
